Knowing the Difference Between a Headache and a Migraine

Although headaches and migraines have some similar traits, there are ways to figure out which one is which. A headache gives little to no warning, and is usually a throbbing or pulsing inside of your head.

A migraine has beginning symptoms of temporary side vision loss, burst of energy or draining of energy, and sensitivity to light and sound. A headache has none of these and usually just occurs.

The good thing about headaches is that unlike migraines can be treated with over the counter drugs without having to go to a doctor. The main thing to worry about is if you get continuous headaches. If this should occur talk to your doctor. This could be the signs of a different problem all together.

Migraines can also last up to three days at a time, and can cause some serious problems with work and home activities. Headaches last about an hour to three hours, but do not interrupt every day life as badly as migraines do.

Also, a headache does not cause you to feel sick, doesn’t give you a sensitivity to light, sound, or smells, and is usually just a throbbing pain in your head. A migraine hits you at the bridge of your nose, your temples, your forehead, and the very back of your head and the pain is caused by the problems a migraine comes with such as the sensitivities.

When experiencing a headache, you usually do become moody and irritable, and you will have a small temper because of it. Just remember to keep your cool and to just take some medicine to relieve yourself of the pain. After you do this you should be pain free for the rest of the day.
