TITLE
Drug Treatment for Migraines
There are prescription drugs and then there
are other types of treatment. There are special
sunglasses that can help with problems such
as light. The list of drug treatments for migraines
is long and hard to pronounce.
The most commonly used drugs for migraines
are over the counter drugs such as Advil, Tylenol,
Aspirin, and Motrin. The use of the drugs is
safe but just like any drug can also become
addictive if you take them repeatedly. Taking
one of these medicines more then ten times a
week is a sign that you may need to go to a
doctor for help with your migraines.
There are also prescription drugs that you
can take for migraines. These drugs are usually
only prescribed to people with severe problems
with migraines, such as constant migraines,
extremely painful migraines, and migraines that
can make you black out.
The use of any drug, both over the counter
and prescription drugs does come with a slight
chance of side affects. The most common side
affects are dizziness light headed, slow heart
rate, and sickness. Just like other medications,
if a drug you are taking for migraines does
not work or makes the condition worse, stop
taking the drug and talk to your doctor.
The most common problem with using drug treatment
for migraines is the threat of becoming dependant
on the drug. Even after your migraines stop
you could still stay on the drugs because your
body has gotten used to them, this is of course
suggested against.
Any problems with drug treatment for migraines
should be told to a doctor so that he or she
can help sort it out. Migraines are serious
things and shouldnt be taken lightly;
the drug use for them is the same. So be responsible
when using drugs for migraines, know when to
limit yourself, and never get to the point where
you need more then what the directions say to
take.
