TITLE
Knowing what to do During a Migraine
Most doctors will tell you the same thing when
it comes to what to do when a migraine strikes.
They tell you to take your treatment, retreat
to an empty dark room, and just try to sleep
it off. The problem with that is that you can
not always just go to a dark room and sleep
it off.
A migraine doesnt go by your schedule,
and it wont wait for you to get home from
work to hit you. So here are a few tips for
when you are in places where you can not just
sleep it off. If you are at work, tell your
boss or who ever is above you that you are starting
to get a migraine and ask for a short break
usually about five to ten minutes.
This gives you time to go and take some medication
that will not make you drowsy and let you have
a few minutes to regroup your self. Also you
are able to get to a quiet spot and just sit
there for a few minutes while the migraine passes.
By the time you get back to work you will have
already taken your medication and have had the
time to yourself to get used to the migraine.
Most of the time people ask for the day off
when a migraine starts hitting. It is better
to continue with work until it becomes clear
that the migraine is not going away for a while.
If you are in the car when a migraine hits,
pull over at a parking lot or a rest area. Do
not take any medication, and no not try to drive
if the migraine is severe. If someone else is
in the car that has a license switch seats and
let them drive for a while.
If you attempt to drive while suffering from
a migraine you could get into an accident do
to loss of peripheral vision, white spots, and
color loss. Therefore it is better to pull over
and lose an hour or two or to switch drivers.
