Is there a way to prevent migraines?
Migraines are not always preventable but here
are a few things that may help:
Get plenty or rest or sleep
Avoid the triggers that set your migraine off.
Try to take it easy, relaxation can reduce
the stress in your life that causes your migraines.
If you cant prevent a migraine here are
a few ways to ease the pain
Seclude yourself in a dark and quite room, with
maybe only a candle, but for some migraines
even the light from a candle is to intense and
can cause more pain, total darkness is the best.
A cold rag to the forehead for some may decrease
this pain
A scalp massage can release the tension from
your head.
Temples are a pressure point that when massaged
can relive headaches
Can migraines be treated with medicine help
to prevent migraines?
Yes if your headaches make it hard for you to
work or do your daily functions. There are a
line of medicines that are made to prevent migraine
or help ease the pain of a migraine.
There are 2 main types of migraine treatments,
nonprescription and prescription.
Some treatments are used to help relieve the
pain from a migraine headache. Most of medicine
treatments should be started as soon as you
become aware that a migraine headache is about
to occur to help you through the migraine. Other
types of medicine are designed to prevent a
migraine before it ever occurs. Here are a few
medicine to prevent migraines befor they occur
Timolol, Propranolol, Inderal, Blocadren, Divalproex,
Depakote and even some antidepressants are used
to help prevent migraines.
Nonprescription medicines to help relieve the
pain
Nonprescription medicines are designed to help
migraine pain. There are many out there and
here are just some of the types out there.
Aspirin, Tylenol, Excedrin migraine, Ibuprofen,
Aleve and Motrin.
What about prescription medicines?
Some people with sever migraine headaches require
prescription medicines. Here are a few prescription
medicines available. Ergotamine , Ergostat,
Dihydroergotamine and Migranal. There are many
more as said these are just a few, medicines
vary from person to person. Some medicine for
some may intense the pain, consult your physician
to find which is best for you.
